So, this whole an ti-vaccination thing is really taking off.  Diseases that had been close to eradication are making a comeback.  I was opposed to the movement at first but now I'm starting to see it in a more positive light.  I mean, MY kids are getting vaccinated yes... but getting the Jenny McCarthy's of the world to step out of the gene pool, well maybe that's not so bad.

Have I become too cynical?

I hadn't heard anything about dogs dying from vaccinations.  That's a bit distressing.

Well, I know it's all tongue in cheek, but it's not the Jenny McCarthy's of the world that will be out of the gene pool, but their innocent children.  The funny oart to me is that it's the Jenny McCarthy's of the world that will go on about the anti-science of conservatives.

It's not just vaccines. The world is becoming anti-science. Not merely ignorant of science, but actively anti. I blame the Internet,  frankly.  It has become far to easy to publish nonsense, which is given equal weight by the uncritical to actual science.  The press don't help either.  If bacon increases your chance of getting a particular cancer from 0.2% to 0.4% the press will say it doubles, which is true but misleading.   But saying it increases by 0.2% sells no papers.

Children not vaccinated against the stuff they're supposed to be vaccinated against should not be allowed into public schools or other services provided by the state.

That should teach the stupid fuckers responsible for them.

I think I need to re-evaluate my position. My distaste for the parents has made me guilty of something I particularly hate in other people. I've lost empathy for the actual victims. In this case the children.

Unfortunately, there's not a damned thing to do about it. The parents are guilty of the most dangerous thing out there. Being convinced you're correct against all evidence to the contrary. An oddly growing affliction.
